Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any experience to take a class?
No, anyone is welcome to take a flying trapeze class. Since each person has an individual turn, there is no need for the students to be working on the same skills as each other. Each person can practice the trick they wish to perfect. Because of this, every class is all-levels.
In the case of our Aerial Silks and Lyra Classes, please attend a beginner level class or call to schedule an individual private lesson.

Will I get hurt?
There is very minimal risk of injury on our flying trapeze rig. You will be in a safety harness and lines every time you are flying in the air. There is a coach on the ground holding the ropes to keep you from falling and there is a coach on the pedestal to assist with the proper fastening of your harness and take off. There is a large net underneath the whole rig that you will descend into at the end of your turn.
Our Aerial Silks and Lyra Classes are kept to small sizes in order to ensure teachers will be able to assist all students and provide spotting. There are large crash mats underneath students to prevent injuries from any slips or minor falls. There is a possibility of bruising or burning (similar to carpet burn) from the silks; however, wearing clothes that covers knees, elbows, arm pits, and midriff will help prevent this.

Is there a weight limit?
For safety issues, we must limit the weight of students to approximately 200lbs. Any heavier and the staff will be unable to perform their duties to keep you safe without hindrance. Students are required to wear a safety belt, which must fit securely around their waist. If there is a problem with the safety belt’s fit, then we must not accept the student at the time. If you are unsure of your physical abilities, then please contact us for assistance.

What are the age restrictions?
We will accept students from ages 6 and upwards. Due to our safety standards, we cannot accept younger students since they may have trouble fitting into the safety belts and they may not have the attention span to follow directions. Please contact us if you wish to sign your child up for classes. All students under the age of 18 must have parental consent before participating in any Urban Trapeze Academy Classes.

What is your cancellation policy?
Please notify us as soon as possible if you are unable to make a scheduled class. Students must cancel a reservation 24 hours before the scheduled class if they wish to receive a full refund. If they do not cancel 24 hours prior, then the class must be paid in full.

How can I pay for a class?
We accept cash, check, Venmo or Zelle as payment. Please contact us to book a class directly.
